FAQs

  • WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THE INSPIRAOLOGY COURSE?

The Inspiraology hypnotherapy training course is designed so you can meet the national standard required to qualify. As such, a large part of the course centres around the completion of your written assessment. We aim to help you achieve an exceptionally high level of proficiency ahead of your portfolio submission. To do so, we focus on achieving a high level of understanding of the theory of what we do by closely examining elements of neuroscience and psychology. We undertake practical work whereby you experience hypnosis for yourself and how to induce a trance state in others – all in actual practice rooms! Our team carefully monitor students as they work together, which allows quick and constructive feedback. The course’s goal is for you to receive the HPD (Hypnotherapy Practitioner’s Diploma). The HPD is equivalent to a Level 4 qualification and is accredited by the NCFE. It is measured alongside Ofqual standards.

    CAN ANYONE BECOME A HYPNOTHERAPIST?

The short answer is: yes. There are plenty of ‘rough and ready online courses which may teach you a little about the subject. But they won’t provide you with the in-depth knowledge needed for the role.Neither will these ‘cheaper’ courses provide a recognised qualification or give you the practical experience or the one-to-one tuition, which allows you to be a consistently high-performing practitioner. Hypnotherapy as a profession is self-regulated. As such, we suggest your training should be undertaken with a fully recognised provider so that you can readily obtain insurance and join an appropriate professional association. Inspiraology’s course is recognised by the HPD awarding body (NCFE), the CNHC, NBMP, NBH, NCH, GHR and UKCHO. We encourage you to have insurance in situ by the third module of the course so you can start to build the ‘case studies section of your portfolio. All of our team members are qualified to high industry standards, and we have decades of experience – both as practitioners and as trainers.

The course also provides guidance on how you can work with members of the medical community to help to provide a positive outcome for the client. WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE INSPIRAOLOGY COURSE?

We are looking for people who can regularly attend the monthly sessions, which run over a two-day period, either during weekdays or over the course of a weekend. To successfully complete the course, you need to compile a portfolio which includes eight case studies and a completed exam paper. We supply the majority of what you need to be able to do so. The portfolio also contains the production of your very own hypnotherapy relaxation upload, CD or equivalent (such as a MP3), which you can use with clients. We record a short film presentation where you outline the initial consultation and key parts of the brain-based theory. The video is an important component of the portfolio. Our support doesn’t end when you complete the course, as we are happy to continue to provide supervision sessions for you. These are important as they allow you to confidentially discuss issues which may arise during client meetings. It also means we can keep you updated on all of the latest research and thinking surrounding best practices. Supervision is a core requirement for membership to a number of professional bodies. HOW DO I BECOME A HYPNOTHERAPIST?

Hypnotherapy training has attracted a vast array of providers. Some are good. Some, on the other hand, will provide cheap and short courses which aren’t recognised by any of the professional bodies which represent fully qualified members. We believe it’s important for you to take the time to decide which training centre meets your requirements and aims to provide you with the highest level of training. At Inspiraology, our recognised course combines academia with its applied usage in the practice room. In doing so, our training has the backing of a number of professional bodies, including the NBMP, NBH, CNHC, GHR and UKCHO. Training runs for two days each month for a total of 10 months. The sessions focus on building your understanding of how the brain operates and how the therapeutic application of hypnosis can help create positive change for a client. We explain how Clinical Hypnotherapy thinking works while covering key aspects of NLP, CBT, Mindfulness, Transactional Analysis and positive psychology. We aim to provide you with the skills so you can become an outstanding practitioner. During the training phase of your new career, we’ll gradually introduce you to working with clients with the aim of successfully producing a portfolio of work for assessment. The finished file consists of eight case studies covering a range of issues, from helping someone with anxiety, stress and depression through to recording outcomes for a stop-smoking meeting and assisting a client in the overcoming of a phobic response. We guide you through the process of finding clients and signposting you to insurance providers which can provide cover during the practical component of your studies. You’ll also complete an exam paper which forms part of the portfolio, alongside a recording of a relaxation session which you can provide to clients. A recording of some of the practical classroom work is included for assessment which happens at an internal and external level. Assuming you have met all of the national occupational standards, then you will receive the DCH (Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy). The assessment process allows for the provision of a separate qualification, the HPD (Hypnotherapy Practitioner’s Diploma). The HPD is seen as the ‘gold standard’ throughout the industry. Following course completion, the Inspiraology team will continue to be available for you so you can receive regular supervision and support throughout your career.
